The Electronic Customs Declaration (e-CD or ECD) is an official digital customs form that all travelers entering Indonesia (by air, sea, or land) must complete prior to arrival. It replaces the traditional paper customs declaration form (BC 2.2) and ensures declarations for personal items, cash, and restricted goods are submitted in advance

All international travelers to Indonesia—including tourists, returning residents, and business visitors—must submit the ECD, regardless of nationality or visa exemption

You can complete the form starting from 72 hours (3 days) before your arrival in Indonesia but not earlier, and up to just before landing

The form requests:

● Excisable goods exceeding personal exemption limits (e.g., alcohol, tobacco)
● Goods obtained abroad that exceed personal effect thresholds (typically > USD 500 per person)
● Commercial or non-personal use goods
● Re-imported items or temporary imports

Successful Declaration

When accepted, the ECD is digitally linked to the traveler’s passport and travel information by Indonesian customs authorities. There is no need to present a printed copy unless requested — customs officers can access the declaration electronically upon arrival. A new ECD must be completed for each entry into Indonesia, ideally within 72 hours before arrival.

If there are problems with the ECD — such as missing, incomplete, or incorrect information — the authorities may request corrections or a resubmission before boarding or upon arrival.
