Get Application Info & Guidance for the Indonesia Arrival Card ECD

The Indonesia Electronic Customs Declaration (ECD) is a digital system established by the Indonesian government to streamline customs clearance for travelers entering the country. All international visitors—regardless of nationality or visa requirements—must complete the ECD before arrival.

This online procedure is part of Indonesia’s official program to modernize border operations and strengthen customs and security screening. Travelers provide personal, travel, and customs information, which is processed by Indonesian authorities to help ensure a smoother entry experience.

Whether visiting for tourism, business, family, or transiting through Indonesia, completing the ECD is an important step before your journey. From exploring the cultural richness of Yogyakarta to relaxing on the beaches of Bali or trekking through the jungles of Sumatra, travelers should complete the ECD ahead of departure to avoid delays at the border.

CURRENCY

First introduced in 1946, the Indonesian rupiah (IDR) is the official currency of Indonesia. Its symbol is Rp, and it is commonly abbreviated as IDR in international usage. Due to high denominations, it’s common to see prices in thousands or millions of rupiah.

OFFICIAL LANGUAGE SPOKEN

Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian) is the official language and is widely used across government, media, education, and business. While Indonesian unites the diverse archipelago, hundreds of regional languages and dialects such as Javanese, Sundanese, and Balinese are also spoken throughout the country.

POPULATION

Approximately 279.1 million (2023 estimate) Indonesia is the fourth most populous country in the world.

WEATHER AND CLIMATE

Indonesia has a tropical climate, with consistently warm temperatures and high humidity throughout the year. The country experiences two main seasons:
• Dry season – May to October
• Rainy season – November to April
As an archipelago of over 17,000 islands, local climates can vary, but the weather is generally hot, humid, and lush year-round.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Electronic Customs Declaration (e-CD or ECD) is an official digital customs form that all travelers entering Indonesia (by air, sea, or land) must complete prior to arrival. Indonesia Electronic Customs Declaration (ECD) Outcome

Once submitted, the ECD is processed by the Indonesian government’s official customs system . Travelers typically receive an email confirmation from the authorities once their submission has been successfully received.

Successful Declaration

When accepted, the ECD is digitally linked to the traveler’s passport and travel information by Indonesian customs authorities. There is no need to present a printed copy unless requested — customs officers can access the declaration electronically upon arrival. A new ECD must be completed for each entry into Indonesia, ideally within 72 hours before arrival.

Issues or Errors

If there are problems with the ECD — such as missing, incomplete, or incorrect information — the authorities may request corrections or a resubmission before boarding or upon arrival. It is crucial that all details, including personal information, travel itinerary, and goods to be declared, are accurate. Incorrect or false declarations may result in inspection delays, fines, or other legal consequences under Indonesian customs regulations.

Important Note

Our role is to assist travelers in completing the Indonesia ECD accurately and on time. The review, acceptance, and verification of the ECD are handled solely by Indonesian customs authorities.
